When you buy Scathain's work, it's not a stagnant fixture in your home or business.

It's a conversation piece.
It's a gathering place.
It's art to engage with.

Because our pieces aren't mainstream, the process of maintaining them isn't always either. Traditional cleansers and harsh textures may damage the finish. Be sure to only use the cleaning practices listed on our After Care page, which outlines the basics of care for mirrors and the finishes of both indoor and outdoor furnishings. We want to ensure that you are educated on how to properly care for your unique piece so that it lasts more than a lifetime.

But we also believe that knowing why such care needs to be taken for our pieces is just as important as the how. Our pieces are created with real materials. Real wood from a deconstructed barn. Solid metal with a custom patina. Glass coated in silver. These items aren't "off the shelf." They are functional works of art that you can use to improve the look and use of your space.

There is also a historical element to each piece. While many are made from reclaimed materials, they are all crafted from Old World techniques. Each piece of work has a sense of nostalgia built in one way or another, and in order for it to retain its custom appearance, it needs to be cared for. Damaging chemicals put you at risk for washing away the historical beauty of the unique piece.

If you have any questions regarding the care for your Scathain piece, do not hesitate to contact us. We will happily assist you in preserving the piece of art you have invested in.
